Information in the email configuration letter that you should pay particular
attention to (highlighted in bold in the sample letter above) is explained
below.
| order date |
This is the date you ordered your Virtual Server.
|
| activation date |
The date that your Virtual Server was activated. You will see this
date on your monthly billing statement because it is used to determine
your first month's prorated service fee.
|
| account id |
The account id of this Virtual Server. This is the ID used internally
at iServer to identify your account. You will see this ID used in the
Account Information Interface in the
Reseller Backroom.
|
| login name |
You will use the login name to access your Virtual Server via FTP, telnet,
or SSH. Detailed presentations about how to use FTP, telnet, or SSH to
access your Virtual Server are given in other sections of this
Getting Started section of the iServer web site.
|
| server host |
This is the name of the physical server or "fish" which hosts your Virtual
Server (iServer has named of our physical servers after fish). When you
access the Server Health Report of the
Reseller Backroom you will notice that your
accounts are grouped according to what physical server or "fish" that
is the host server.
|
| domain name |
This is the domain name you selected to use as the primary domain name
for your new Virtual Server.
|
temporary domain name |
The temporary domain name can be used in place of domain name until
such time that your domain name is registered. This is provided as
a free service of iServer so that you can access your Virtual Server
while you wait on the registration authority (e.g. InterNIC) to
register your domain name. The temporary domain name will only work
for a period of a few weeks following the initialization and setup
of your Virtual Server.
|
| ip address |
The IP address gives the precise Internet address of your Virtual Server.
You will likely never need to use your IP address in part because the
Domain Name System (DNS) handles mapping between host names (which we
humans find convenient) and internet addresses (which computers deal with).
|
| domain registration information |
This section of your configuration letter gives you precise instructions
with regard to your domain registration status. An entire page is devoted
to domain registration in the this Getting Started section of the iServer
web site.
